2024-2025 Undergraduate Thesis Scholarships

Deadline: September 30, 2024

The Society of Economic Geologists Canada Foundation (SEGCF) will award up to twelve, $1,000 scholarships to support field or laboratory work related to an undergraduate thesis in economic geology. To be eligible, a student must be either entering or in their fourth year of study.

The application deadline is September 30, 2024, and awards will be announced prior to October 31, 2024. Decisions will be made by the SEGCF Awards Committee, based upon the quality of the research proposal, the student's academic standing and supervisor's endorsement.

Eligibility

Any fourth year student registered in a geology program in a Canadian university who is planning to complete an undergraduate thesis in an economic geology-related topic. Preference will be given to those applicants who are SEG Student Members.

Application must be completed digitally, accompanied by a copy of your academic record, and emailed to kirstiesimpson@segweb.org by the deadline of September 30, 2024.

Awarding Process

Applications will be reviewed by the SEGCF Awards Committee. Winners will be notified by email and funds sent as soon as practical after the awards have been decided.

Use of Proceeds

Funds must be used for field or laboratory work related to an undergraduate thesis in economic geology.

Reporting Requirements

Students are required to submit to SEGCF (kirstiesimpson@segweb.org) a copy of the abstract from their completed thesis along with a brief statement of how the award money was utilized. Students who fail to comply with the reporting requirements may not be eligible for future awards or other forms of financial assistance from SEG or SEGCF.
