What are the benefits of becoming an SEG Fellow?

With a greater pool of Fellows, SEG can increase the diversity of its leaders, better meet the needs of members in all locations, and evolve into an organization truly representative of its varied components. For the same price as a Professional Member, apply for fellowship.

How do I manage my account?

Visit www.segweb.org/MyAccount, or sign in and then click My Account from the top of any page. From there you can:

Update your personal information for display in the Member Directory
Update your address for Economic Geology and SEG Discovery mailings
Change your username and password
Find and communicate with peers using the Member Directory
Pay your dues (between September 1 and December 31 of each year)
View, print, or e-mail receipts from dues payments, online orders, and courses

Why am I getting a dues notice when I've already paid?

SEG membership is based on the calendar year and dues are collected between September 1 and December 31 of each year. If you joined in April, for example, then you will be billed in September for the following year.

PAID by December 31:

Receive first quarter mailings of Economic Geology and SEG Discovery
Uninterrupted access to all articles in Economic Geology and SEG Discovery
Uninterrupted access to the SEG Member Directory (7,000 entries)
Member discounts, up to 20% or more, on events and store purchases

NOT PAID by December 31:

Miss out on all the above, plus:
Blocked access to your account; payments cannot be made online
You may have to re-apply to the Society

What if I do not know any Fellows in the Society to sponsor me for membership?

When applying online you can select the option to have SEG find you a sponsor.

If I am applying for student membership and I have a Fellow sponsor or my department head has signed the application form, do I still need to provide proof-of-enrollment documentation?

Yes, SEG will need to verify the following:

Full-time registration at an institute of higher learning and not simultaneously a company employee or full-time research/teaching assistant
Student status can be no longer than four years for a Master's degree (including undergraduate) and four years for a Ph.D. degree, a cumulative maximum of eight years over the course of academic studies.

I am having trouble accessing or downloading Economic Geology and/or SEG Discovery papers from GSW.

Why can't I log into my SEG account even though I requested a new a password after being locked out?

It is possible your membership was not renewed or the password is being sent to your primary e-mail address (and not the one you are currently using). If you are locked out of your account, contact Member Services.

I am 65 years old and retired. Do you offer reduced rates for senior citizens?

SEG does have a Senior Fellow member category for those members who have paid membership dues for 30 consecutive years and have reached the age of 70.

I was a member of SEG many years ago. Do I have to complete a new application form to reactivate my membership?

Yes. Visit www.segweb.org/join and proceed using the I Have an Account option. If you can not remember your username/password please do not create a new account. Contact Member Services to retrieve them.
