Description

Theme 2: Exploration and Mining of Energy Storage Materials: Filling the Gap

This discussion will highlight where critical minerals are currently being explored for and mined, what these exploration models look like presently, and where resource potential is likely to develop in the future.

Specific focus will be given to the strategic elements of lithium, cobalt, graphite, and nickel — with an in-depth look at their growing significance and how exploration companies are shifting gears in order to meet rising global demand. From the Lithium Triangle of South America to the cobalt-rich central African Copperbelt, this is a superb opportunity to hear from world-class experts on how exploration trends are evolving to meet the challenges and needs of the new global energy economy.

The panelists have been selected for their expertise in specific metallogenic regions related to critical minerals exploration — as well as their passion for engaging with students and early career professionals!

Additional webinars have been hosted throughout the year, exploring areas such as new battery technology, sustainable mining, exploration for energy storage materials, and climate change engagement. Please view them at www.segweb.org/criticalminerals.
