Pedro Cordeiro

Pontifical Catholic University of Chile

Pedro is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mining and the Geosciences Group from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC Chile). He has taught Introduction to Mining, Geochemistry and Petrology, and Mining Geology since 2018. His research involves the role of tectonics in the formation of ore deposits and how ore minerals, their textures, and chemistry can help resolve regional tectonic problems. Dr. Cordeiro has a Ph.D. from the Universidade de Brasilia and several years of exploration and project management experience based in Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Canada.

Sally Goodman

Newmont

Sally is Newmont's Global Chief Geologist. She leads a team of 25 specialists in Data Science, Geological Modelling, Geophysics, and Geochemistry, which comprise the corporate Global Geoscience Group, providing technical support to the company's Exploration function around the world. Prior to joining Newmont, Sally was Chief Geoscientist with Atlantic Gold, following five years with Goldcorp in a variety of corporate technical positions. Before that, she traveled globally as a consultant in structural geology with SRK Consulting after holding various lecturing and research posts in universities in Canada and the UK. She has a Ph.D. in economic geology and an M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines, London (UK), and B.Sc. in Geological Sciences from Leeds University (UK).

Nikita La Cruz

Barrick Guyana

Nikita is an economic geologist who completed her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in September 2019. She received B.Sc. degrees in chemistry and environmental studies at Gettysburg College in 2013 and M.Sc. degree in geology with a focus in geochemistry at the University of South Florida in 2015. Nikita decided to move back home after her studies in the US and is currently a project geologist with Barrick Guyana Inc. She worked previously as a senior geologist with the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission and in greenfield exploration in Guyana prior to the completion of her Ph.D.

Steve McIntosh

Retired (Rio Tinto Group Executive)

Stephen retired from Rio Tinto at the end of 2020 after more than 33 years with the group. He started his career as an exploration geologist in Papua New Guinea and ended his career as Group Executive for Growth and Innovation and Health, Safety and Environment. Stephen was Rio Tinto's sponsor for their White Ribbon accreditation, which aims to both support the victims of family and domestic violence and help in its elimination. He was also Rio Tinto's representative to the Champions for Change Coalition. That Coalition is a globally recognized, innovative strategy for achieving gender equality, advancing more and diverse women in leadership, and building respectful and inclusive workplaces.

Ayesha Ahmed

Moderator, Teck Resources

Ayesha is an exploration geochemist with over 10 years' experience in both academia and industry. Her current role is as a senior project geochemist with Teck Resources, based out of Vancouver. She is passionate about integrating new analytical techniques and geoscience initiatives into conventional exploration workflows to enhance target generation, evaluation, and progression. Prior to this position, she obtained her MSc from MDRU (2010; University of British Colombia) and PhD from CODES (2019; University of Tasmania, Australia). Ayesha is an active member of the geoscience community and a strong advocate for the inherent strengths of a diverse workforce.
